That is a surprisingly thin box for a RTT. Maybe the floor is an optical illusion.

This RTT is 7 ½ inches high so yeah about half the height of a lot of the folding box type ones. Really a help when itâs on top of a rig thatâs already at the mercy of the wind at highway speeds. Itâs quite a bit lighter than my last one too at 115 lbs.
The downside for some is that this design takes up a lot of roof space since it doesnât fold in half, but that doesnât matter to me. It still has roofbars so I could still put things on the roof but a solar panel is enough for me.
I pulled the second layer of foam and replaced it with a really nice self inflating mattress and a 12v heated pad, so it should be very comfortable.

My brother in Phoenix found one that mounts directly to the drip rails (no rack needed), allowing it to ride less than an inch above the top and fit in the garage while installed.

Mounting an RTT is made way easier when you have a sunroof!
Next order of business was to mount my solar panel. The included crossbars came in handy. I offset it to the hinge side to give the lifting struts an easier time.
Not hooked up yet but at least itâs mounted.

This is the way. You guys are building the good peer pressure a duder needs to get his ish done too. I am fortunate to only really need maintenance, but even so â I seen teh slacker.

Solar is now hooked up. And new glow plugs are installed.
The old ones didnât test terribly and didnât look horrible but 7 to 10 seconds of smoke and slight stumble on start up doesnât need to happen. Canât stand smoky starts. So new glows it is.
Also added some orange strip lighting to the back. Swapped in new LED bulbs in the dome lights. The previous ones lasted 2 years. 24 volts burns them out faster even though they are rated for it.

Similar in size and shape to a spark plug but instead of an electrode there is a longer metal tip. It takes about 8 seconds for the glow to fully materialize, but then it gets literally red hot.
Ham radio head got moved. More in line with rest of dash.
But because the actual unit (and speaker) is behind the center console and in front of 50L.of.water.tank, itâs hard to hear. So I got an icom ext speaker. Super loud and the Yaesu units havenât complained yet.

I, too, have tapped into the AC fan in order to run a manual override. Managed to blow the fan fuse in the process. Now the fan wonât come on, so Iâm redoing things.

Well that sucks. My AC didnât have an aux fan. So I added one. The switch has been temporarily running along the edge of the center console for a year or so while I assessed efficacy. So yesterday I actually installed it in the dash.
I donât use it a lot but at least my passenger wonât look down and see janky wires running along the edge of the floor mat

Oh. Hereâs a possible help for someone: if you are trying to fish wires and donât have fancy flexible gripper things (I broke mine) sometimes a length of soldering wire is helpful to fish something through. I used it to get wires from under the glove ox, up and over the HVAC ducts and out through the dash. A circuitous route to say the least.
